Batavia – Mrs. Mafalda M. Calarco, 91, of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home.
She was born November 19, 1923 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Victoria Spina Tessitore.
A 1941 Batavia High School graduate, she was a member of St. Mary's Church, member of the former Sertoma Club of Batavia, the Mother's Club at St. Mary's Church. She loved baking and cooking and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Frank J Calarco, Sr., passed away on August 23, 1987.
Surviving are her children, Anthony (Judy) Calarco, Sr. and Mary (James) Smith, both of Batavia and Nicholas (Marcia) Calarco of Oakfield; her son-in-law, Ronald Moscicki of Batavia; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two brother-in-laws, Peter Rossi of LeRoy and Donald Ball of Washington, D.C. along with several nieces and nephews.
She is the mother of the late Frank J. Calarco, Jr. who passed away on May 3, 1974 and Victoria "Vicki" Moscicki, who passed away on August 13, 2015 and sister of the late Joseph Tessitore, Cecilia Ball, Rose Pellegrino, Helen Pellegrino, Angeline Falcone, Clara Rossi and Jennie LaFarnara.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Batavia.
