Batavia - Marilyn F. Beechler, 85, of Batavia, passed Wednesday from this life to more life at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, following a brief illness.



Mrs. Beechler was born October 26, 1928 in Elba, a daughter of the late Clayton and Mabel Millis Edgerton.



A 1946 graduate of Batavia High School, she was a member of the first graduating class from the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing in Batavia in 1959, receiving her LPN certification. She was a 1975 graduate of Genesee Community College, receiving her degree as an RN.



She owned and administrated at the former Hilltop Nursing Home in Batavia for many years. She served as the administrator for the Genesee County Nursing Home in 1973 and as the assistant administrator/director of nursing in 1974. In 1977, the domiciliary care unit was opened at the Genesee County Nursing Home and she served there as a supervisor until her retirement.



Marilyn was a 60-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Batavia, and was a member of the church 20/30 Club. She was also a former member of the Zonta Club.



She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild and loved harness racing.



She is the wife of the late John A. Beechler, who passed away April 5, 2007.



Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Moore of Attica, Susan Dilcher and Diane (Jack) Flanigen both of Oakfield; grandchildren, Anissa Kline of Louisiana, and Randal Warner of Oakfield; a great-grandson, Dawson Warner of Batavia; her sister, Susan (late Bruce) Carlson of Delaware. A sister-in-law, Dorothy Edgerton of Batavia; and several nieces and nephews also survive.



Marilyn is preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Moore, and a brother, Freeman Edgerton.



Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main St., Batavia. Marilyn's Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, (June 3, 2014) at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 East Main Street, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 300 East Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia.
