Obituary of Martha Ruth Thom
STAFFORD - Martha Ruth Thom, 39, of Stafford, passed away Wednesday, (January 22, 2020), surrounded by her loving family.
Martha was born November 14, 1980, in Brockport, a daughter of David E. and Debra (VanDuser) Thom of Byron.
She attended Northgate Free Methodist Church and enjoyed outdoor activities such as walking, hiking, boating, and gardening. She liked crafts and country music, but most of all she cherished time spent with her family and cooking with her daughter, Peyton.
Surviving along with her parents is her daughter, Peyton Goebert at home; partner, John Goebert of Stafford; brothers Matthew (Kristen) Thom of Holley, and David (Danielle) Thom of Bergen; her maternal grandmother Ruth VanDuser of Bergen; her paternal grandmother Norma Thom of Holley. Several nieces and nephews along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
Martha is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Gordon VanDuser; and her paternal grandfather, Norm Thom.
At Martha's request, there will be no visitation. Family and Friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life to be held at 12:00 noon on Friday (January 31, 2020) at Northgate Free Methodist Church, 8160 Bank Street Road in Batavia. Private burial will be in White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Martha's memory may be made to the family, c/o H.E. Turner & Co., Inc., 403 E. Main St., Batavia, NY 14020 to establish an education fund for Peyton. Please make checks payable to David Thom.
Arrangements for Martha were entrusted to the care of H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home in Batavia.
