Mary Ann Boyd, 85 of Batavia passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

She was born May 19, 1930 in Batavia, New York, the daughter of the late John and Ruth Ramsey Pickert.

Mrs. Boyd was a lifelong Batavia resident, who worked for Metropolitan Insurance after graduating from Batavia High School. After raising her four children, she then went on to work as a secretary for the Batavia City Fire Department. She retired from the fire department in 1995 and considered the force there her "second family".

Mary Ann loved her family, and was a dedicated member of Saint Mary's church, where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. In the past, she volunteered on the cleaning committee for the church and also in local nursing homes. She was a lover and avid supporter of all animals. Her two current cats "Hope" and "Bandit" were always a constant topic of conversation even during her recent illness. Her caring heart will be forever remembered by all she loved.

Mrs. Boyd's loving husband of 65 years, Ronald E. Boyd passed away on July 9, 2015.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald J (Betsy) Boyd of Raleigh, NC, Daniel M. (Shirley) Boyd of Batavia, and Michael J Boyd of Batavia. One daughter, Suzanne (Steven) Kabel of Black Mountain, NC. Seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Boyd is also survived by her brother-in-law Gilbert Boyd and sister-in-law June Wolcott, both of Batavia. She was also the sister to the late John Pickert Jr. and Ruth Pickert Briggs.

There are no prior calling hours. Services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Church, 18 Ellicott Street in Batavia. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to St. Mary's Church, 18 Ellicott Avenue, Batavia, New York 14020 or to All Babies Cherished Pregnancy Assistance Center, 445 Ellicott Street, Batavia, New York 14020. Mrs. Boyd will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia.
