Batavia - Mrs. Mary T. Cecere, 88, of Batavia, self-employed accountant, died Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Batavia Health Care Center.
Mrs. Cecere was born April 17, 1924 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Rosario and Josephine Gugino Gaeta Tumminello.
She was a member of Resurrection Parish, St. Joseph's Church and the sodality of the church. Mrs. Cecere was the co-founder of Genesee County Chapter Right to Life and also involved with All Babies Cherished. A talented artist who gave lessons, she was a member of the Genesee County Society of Artists.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed by the Disabled American Veterans Association at City Hall in Buffalo. She was also a Pro-Life Activist and a Buffalo Diocese Pro-Life Counselor.
Survivors include a brother, Rosario (Audrey) Tumminello of Batavia; a sister, Ida Tumminello of Batavia; a grandson, Corey Cecere of Florida; a sister-in-law, Rose Tumminello of Batavia and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Arthur Cecere. Mrs. Cecere is the mother of the late Ronald Cecere and sister of the late Samuel and Anthony Gaeta, Frank Tumminello and Josephine Hayden.
There are no prior calling hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia.
