Batavia - Mary D. Davis, 85, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Genesee County Nursing Home.
Mrs. Davis was born May 17, 1930 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Angelo and Mildred Alwardt Stellato.
Mrs. Davis retired from the housekeeping department of the New York State School for the Blind. She, along with her late husband George, resided in Ocala, Florida from 1995-2005.
She was a talented seamstress, quilter who enjoyed playing cards. She loved painting and was a member of the Batavia Society of Artists. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Lions Club of Batavia for helping to improve the quality of their mom’s life by making it possible for her to continue reading with one of their reading devices.
Her husband, George T. Davis, Sr., passed away on July 17, 2001.
She is survived by her children, George T. (Mary Jo) Davis, Jr. of Batavia and Nancy (Dick Bausch) Dugan of Batavia; her four granddaughters, Chaunda (Bill) Hertel of Batavia, Brooke (Vincent) Pontillo of Batavia, Danielle (Jeff) Maniace of Pavilion and Jennifer (Chris) Brown of Alexander; and her six great-grandchildren; Ethan and Max Hutchins of Batavia, Benjamin and Nina Pontillo of Batavia; Madison Maniace of Pavilion and Kaylee Brown of Alexander.
There are no prior visiting hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in Mary’s name to Lions Club of Batavia, P.O. Box 456, Batavia, New York 14021 or to Crossroads House, P.O. Box 403, Batavia, New York 14021.
