Elba - Maxine L. Gubb, 85, of Elba, went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Batavia Health Care Center, LLC, in Batavia.
Mrs. Gubb was born April 15, 1930 in Elba, a daughter of the late Sherman and Geraldine (Hankinson) Horton.
She was a 1948 graduate of Elba High School, member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Elba, enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, participating in Bible study at Northgate Free Methodist and being with her family.
Her husband, Lt. Col., Lester A. Gubb, died on January 23, 2002.
Survivors include three children, Patricia Koch of Sacramento, CA, Gregory A. (Shirley) Gubb and Kimberly (Daniel) Post, both of Elba, a brother: Sherman Horton; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Horton of Elba and Shirley Youll of Batavia; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Lorne Horton and Beverly Schirmer.
Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 at H.E. Turner & Co., Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at First Presbyterian Church of Elba. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Elba, 23 N. Main St., Elba, NY 14058 or to Compassion International, 12290 Voyager Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80921. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Elba.
