Alexander - Melvin K. Hodnett, 64, of Alexander, passed away Sunday, (December 29, 2013) at his home, in Alexander.
Mr. Hodnett was born July 2, 1949 in Fillmore, a son of the late Keith and Berneata (Vosburg) Hodnett.
Mel loved his family, agriculture, and organic farming. In his last few years he was able to enjoy spending time with his extended family.
He was the husband of the late Penny (Putt) Hodnett who passed away in 2001.
Melvin is survived by a son, Michael (Becky) Hodnett of Woodsboro, MD, sisters, Suzanne (George) Wilkinson of Tunkhannock, PA, and Tricia (Jon) Holland of Alexander; a brother-in-law, Thomas Parmenter of Fillmore. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mel is preceded in death by a daughter, Brianna Hodnett, and a sister, Mickalie Parmenter.
Friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia, where Mel's Funeral Service will be held immediately following calling at 1. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240-9856. Melvin will be buried with his wife and daughter in Freedom in the spring.
