Norman E. Rogers
Oakfield - Norman E. Rogers, 86, of Oakfield, passed away on Thursday, August 13th , 2015 at 1:40 a.m. at the New York State Veteran's Home, in Batavia surrounded by his loving family.
Norman was born in the town of Covington on March 31st, 1929 to Champion and Marie Cooper Rogers. He was a 1946 graduate of Pavilion High School. He joined the Army in December of 1951 and served 3 years in Germany in the Army Security Agency 328th CR Co. Comm. Recon.
Norman worked at GTE Sylvania in Batavia, then 25 years in Rochester, first at Roadway Express, then Gates Chili School having retired in 1992. After his retirement, he and Carol traveled in the United States and Canada, enjoying many Army reunions around the country.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol Stevens Rogers; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven (Shari) Rogers; 4 grandchildren, Kenneth, Jack, Craig and Michael; a brother and sister-in-law, James (Donna) Rogers; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the brother of the late Doris Rogers Gehman.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Ave., Oakfield, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Cary Cemetery in Oakfield.
