Oakfield - Pauline M. Higgins, 97, of Oakfield, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at her home.
Mrs. Higgins was born October 9, 1917 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Emanuel John and Fredericka Schneckenburger Cross.
A member of the First Baptist Church in Batavia, Mrs. Higgins enjoyed sharing a meal with her family at the Caryville Inn. She loved spending time with her family and was known for her apple pies and roast beef dinners on Sunday.
Her husband, Clair F. Higgins, passed away in 2007.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Wayne) Schiavi and Kathy Reed, both of Oakfield and Jack (Michelle) Higgins of Bergen; her sister-in-law, Marie Sztaba of Batavia; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her dog Happy and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her twin brother Paul Cross; brothers, Donald and Gordon Cross and sisters, Margaret Squires, Gladys Miller and Ruth Krauss.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Please consider memorials to HomeCare & Hospice, 29 Liberty Street, Suite #6, Batavia, New York 14020. Burial will be in St. Cecelia's Cemetery, Oakfield.
