Oakfield - Peter Francis Wasiulewski, 93, of Oakfield, lost his battle with cancer on Thursday (October 1, 2015). He died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.
Peter was born in Poland on May 2, 1922, a son of the late Frank and Anne Wasiulewski.
He served in the British Army from 1938 until 1948 during World War II. While serving at that time he joined the American Army.
In 1950, he married Mary S. Gadawa and they had one son, Jerry. They came to the United States in 1955 and settled in Oakfield.
He worked and retired from Lipton's in 1989. After retiring, he worked as a security officer at Genesee Memorial Hospital for several years. Peter was an active member of St. Padre Pio Parish for over 40 years. He enjoyed life and spending time at OTB in Batavia. But, his most precious time was when he was spending it with his ever growing family.
Peter is predeceased in death by his wife of 47 years, Mary S. (Gadawa) Wasiulewski, who died on July 3, 2003; son, Jerry Stanley Wasiulewski, who died on August 30, 2014 and his great-granddaughter, April Angel Diaz, who died on April 3, 1997.
Peter is survived by his daughter-in-law, Jean L. Wasiulewski of Oakfield; grandchildren, Rachil (William) Oliver of Bennettsville, SC, Travis (Stacie) Wasiulewski of Batavia, Crystal (Scott) Dugan of Albion, Jeri Diaz of Batavia and Mary Ann Forsha of Oakfield; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
There are no prior calling hours. Peter's Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Saint Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecilia's Church, 56 Maple Ave., Oakfield. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Oakfield.
