Batavia - Richard Brenkus, 86, of Batavia, a foreman at Niagara Mohawk Power Co. in Batavia for 28 years, died on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Batavia Health Care Center, LLC, in Batavia.
Mr. Brenkus was born April 22, 1930 in Batavia, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Balicki) Brenkus.
He was a 1948 graduate of Batavia High School.
He is survived by his wife, Rita (Cecere) Brenkus, whom he married on February 3, 1951; 1 daughter, Beth (Joseph) Starowitz of Batavia; 1 brother, Donald Brenkus of FL; 3 grandchildren, Eric (Mellisa) Gahagan of Batavia, Brian (Zahra)Gahagan of DE and Katie Gahagan of SC, 2 great-grandchildren, Grant Gahagan and Meg Gahagen, both of Batavia and a niece and a nephew.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Parkway West, Amherst, NY 14228 or to United Memorial Medical Center Foundation, 123 North Street, Batavia, NY 14020. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery. Arrangements were completed by Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 302 E. Main St., Batavia.
