Richard C. McNulty, 78, of Batavia, died Wednesday (January 15, 2014) at Crossroads House in Batavia.
Mr. McNulty was born October 13, 1935 in Potsdam, NY, the son of the late George and Marie (Thrasher) McNulty.
He graduated from Norwood-Norfolk High School in 1952 then graduated from St. Lawrence State Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. He worked in and around New York City as a registered nurse until joining the United States Army in 1966. He served two tours of duty as a Captain in the military hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam.
He was one of the founding instructors of the LPN Nursing School in Warsaw, NY and Hartford, CT.
He relocated to Austin, TX in 1987 and worked in the medical field for the State of Texas and other private facilities and retired after 44 years as a registered nurse.
Mr. McNulty was a member of the Genesee Chorale and the First Presbyterian Church in Batavia.
Survivors include a niece, Lisa (Rick) Schmieder of East Bethany; two nephews, David (Debra) Osswald of Portland, ME and Thomas (Lisa) Osswald of Austin, TX and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is the brother of the late Marilyn Osswald.
There are no prior calling hours. Services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 East Main St., Batavia. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Norwood, NY.
