Bergen - Mr. Richard D. Partridge, 83, of Bergen, passed away, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at The New York State Veteran's Home.
Mr. Partridge was born June 21, 1929 a son of the late Lewis and Claribel McVean Partridge.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marian Thornell Partridge; his children, Bruce (Sandra) Partridge of Bergen and Jan Kent (friend - Maurice Riddle) of Byron; four grandchildren, Joshua (Heather) Kent of Byron, Amber (Jason) Tomlin of N.C., Michael (Chantel) Partridge of TX and Seth Kent (friend - Lauren Rohan) of Bergen; six great-grandchildren; his brother, Lewis (Helen) Partridge of Batavia; his sister, Joyce (Richard) Glazier of Byron and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Partridge served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Graybar Electric Co. as an Operating Manager at the Rochester Branch after 30 years of service. He served as Bergen Village Trustee, served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, was a Boyscout leader, member of the Bergen Business and Civic Association and an active member of the Bergen Historical Society. He spent countless hours collecting, organizing and filing historical information at the town historian's office. Over the years he has shared his opinions through letters to the editor in the Batavia Daily News.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51South Lake Street, Bergen. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bergen United Methodist Church, 27 South Lake Street, Bergen. Burial will be in Mt. Rest Cemetery, Bergen.
