Obituary of Robert D. Ridley
Bergen - Robert D. Ridley, 82, of Bergen, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.
Robert was born August 6, 1937, in Batavia, a son of the late Dale and Ethel (Scott) Ridley.
Robert retired from Kodak in 1991 after 29 years and then began to farm. He was a founding member and volunteer for the LeRoy Volunteer Ambulance and also a founding member for the Coast Guard Flotilla of Conesus Lake. He was a member of the Conesus Lake Association. Robert won the DSA Award for the town of LeRoy. He sat on the planning board for both the town of Livonia and Bergen. Robert was the tin smith for the Genesee Country Village and Museum. He was a member of the Jaycees, Hesperus Lodge #837 Masons and the LeRoy Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen (Daniel) Redinger of Byron; four grandchildren, Ashley Redinger of Batavia, Zachary Redinger of Byron, Matthew Ridley of Geneseo and Nicole Ridley of LeRoy; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ridley of Geneseo; a special niece, Evonne Spencer of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Judith Ridley of LeRoy and Sylvia Traxler of LeRoy; a sister-in-law, Sherri Ridley of Rochester and several nieces, nephews and good friends.
Robert is predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline Ridley who passed away in 2013, the two were married June 14, 1958. He is also predeceased by his son, Robert Ridley who died in 2010; a grandson, Christopher Ridley and two brothers, Richard Ridley and Francis Ridley.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Ave., Bergen, where services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Robert will be laid to rest in Mumford Rural Cemetery.
