"The Holiday Man"

Batavia - Robert W. Zeagler, 70, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mr. Zeagler was born March 29, 1946 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, a son of Mary Watson Fillette of Byron and the late Solomon Zeagler.

Bob was a graduate of Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Virginia where he was a champion pole vaulter holding a Virginia state record for over 20 years. He was a member of the Bergen Swamp Preservation Society and a fan of Jimmy Buffett; often taking the trip to North Carolina to see him in concert. He loved to garden and watch the hummingbirds at his home. He delivered parts for Ken Barrett Chevrolet, Mike Ognibene, Zigrossi Motors and Advanced Auto Parts. He was an inspector and former union president for the former O&K Trojan Industries in Batavia.

Bob was best known for dressing himself up and decorating his car for every holiday. He would travel to nursing homes and hospitals, even while he was sick, to see the residents with the hope to brighten their day. His greatest joy was to have people stop him while he was dressed up and take a picture with him. He truly wanted to make people, especially the kids happy.

Donald Zeagler of Virginia and John Zeagler; his sister, Patricia Rosone of Avon; his sister-in-law, Joan (late Ken) Dispenza of Batavia; three brothers-in-law, Lenny (Sharon) Jasinski of Batavia, Richard (Mary) Jasinski of Elba and Tom (Sue) Jasinski of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is the brother of the late David Zeagler who passed away in 1959.
