Ronald E. Boyd, 85 of Batavia passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia. During his short stay at the Veteran's home he received and was treated with respect, compassion, and dignity, which was much appreciated by his family.

He was born February 16, 1930 in Warsaw, New York, the son of the late Walter and Lena Knight Boyd.

Mr. Boyd was a lifelong Batavia resident, who served in the US Army and fought in the Korean War. He and his brother-in-law, Walter Briggs owned and operated Adelman's Electric in Batavia for many years. He then worked at Graham Corporation in Batavia.

Ron loved his family, and was an avid New York Yankee fan. He enjoyed watching sports, especially during the football season. He also liked to follow local harness racing and was known to place an occasional wager at OTB.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Ann (Pickert) Boyd. Three sons, Ronald J (Betsy) Boyd of Raleigh, NC, Daniel M. (Shirley) Boyd of Batavia, and Michael J Boyd of Batavia. One daughter, Suzanne (Steven) Kabel of Black Mountain, NC. Seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He has two surviving siblings, Gilbert Boyd and June Wolcott, both of Batavia. Mr. Boyd was also the brother to the late Merlyn Boyd, Doris VanCheri, Lorraine Allen, and Beatrice Hardy.

There are no prior calling hours. Services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Church, 18 Ellicott Street in Batavia. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to St. Mary's Church, 18 Ellicott Avenue, Batavia, NY 14020 or Volunteers for Animals, P.O. Box 1621, Batavia, NY 14021. Mr. Boyd will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia.
