Obituary of Ronald E. Griffith




Batavia/Churchville - Ronald E. Griffith, 87, of Batavia and formerly of Churchville, went home to Heaven on Friday, December 13, 2019, at United Memorial Medical Center.



Ron was born July 17, 1932, in Rochester, the son of the late George and Helen (Wickins) Griffith.



Ron was an engineer at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, a veteran, serving with the United States Navy and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Batavia.  Ron was active with youth sports, coaching youth football for over 25 years.  He served as the Town of Riga Supervisor for 8 years, Town of Chili Commissioner of Public Works and Highway Superintendent and a State Senator Legislative Aide.



He will be remembered as a faithful spouse, father and grandfather who loved to socialize and share a good story.  His laugh and smile will be forever missed.


Survivors include his children, Karen (James) Pastorello, Eric Griffith, Dean (Kerri) Griffith of Wyoming and Doris (Pastor Mark) Hurlbut of Elma, his best friend, Mike DiMartino and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.



Ron is the husband of the late Susan Lane Griffith, father of the late David Griffith, grandfather of the late Kailee Lane Bridges and brother of the late Beverly Geer.

Calling hours are Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia, where services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m.  Ron will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Place Cemetery, Clifton.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ronald's memory may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 238 Vine Street, Batavia, NY 14020.
