Ronald William Spink
Batavia - Ronald William Spink, 80, of Batavia, a contractor and owner of R.W. Spink & Sons in Batavia, retiring after having worked well into his 70's, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.
Mr. Spink was born May 28, 1933 in Batavia, a son of the late William G. and Clara H. (Hodge) Spink.
He was a member of Northgate Free Methodist Church for over 60 years where he served as a local preacher, member of the Board of Trustees and Official Board, was a delegate to the Conference, song leader, Sunday school teacher and a choir member. He held every position in the church except for that of the pastor. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved his family and his church. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were of great joy to him and he was a great animal lover.
He is survived by his loving wife, ZoElla L. (Worthington) Spink, whom he married January 1, 1953; 4 sons, Ronald (Debbie) Spink, Timothy (Belinda) Spink and Jamie (Kathy) Spink, all of Batavia, Rev. Christopher (Joan) Hoppe-Spink of Buffalo; a brother, Richard (Lois) Spink of Batavia; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Northgate Free Methodist Church, 8160 Bank Street Road, Batavia where services will follow at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northgate Free Methodist Church, 8160 Bank Street Road, Batavia, NY 14020. A private burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Alexander.
