Batavia -Rosalind (Roz) Pricola of Batavia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday January 9, 2019. She was born January 12,1926 in Batavia beloved wife for 69 ½ years to her husband and daughter of the late Manuel & Rose Colombo. She is survived by her husband Vito and her 3 children James (Diane) Pricola, Karen (John) O’Donnell, and Betsy (Jim) Mungillo. She was nana to 9 grandchildren, Jennifer(Steve) Horak, Dr. Katie (Dr. Corey) Fehnel, Sara (Justin) Schuff, Dr. Michael Mungillo, Christopher Pricola, Sean O’Donnell, Matthew Mungillo, Nicholas Mungillo, and Alex Pricola and great-grandmother to 6. She is also survived by her brother Manuel(Kathy) and sister-in-law Jeanette Attardi and several nieces and nephews. Before raising her family she worked at Production Credit from 1947-1954. Roz was a loving wife and mother and had a very full life with her family whom she loved above all. She was active in many varying groups including Red Cross, Catholic Charities and St. Joseph School PTA where she was president for many years. She was instrumental in establishing the Popcorn Ball as a fund raiser for the school. Roz was a member of the Saint Jerome Foundation Board where she served as president for 4 years. She was eventually made a trustee Emeritus. She was a member of the St. Jerome Guild and ran the gift shop for 27 years. She was chairman of many of their fund raisers including their yearly dinner dance. She was the 1994 recipient of the Paolo Busti Foundation Award of Excellence. In later years Roz returned to work in the guidance office at Notre Dame High School as the secretary. During this time she received the 1974 Monsignor Eugene F. Kolb Memorial Award for the promotion of Catholic Education and Religious Formation. She was very involved in many charitable organizations. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Deborah Goodenbury and Kathy Colombo for their dedication and loving care through her illness. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Ascension Parish, 19 Sumner Street, Batavia with Fr. David Glassmire officiating. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
