Rose Cordes

Dover, New Hampshire - Mrs. Rose P. Cordes, 93, of Dover, a longtime resident of Basom, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Hyder Family Hospice House, in Dover.



Mrs. Cordes was born August 3, 1920 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late John S. and Rose Olsson Graban.



Mrs. Cordes had been living with her daughter in Dover, New Hampshire where she was a member of the Parish of the Assumption in Dover.



She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of the many parishes she belonged to throughout her life. Rose enjoyed gardening, culinary arts, the game of Scrabble and being with her family and friends. She was a member of the Amercian Legion Auxiliary Unit 0626.



Her husband, William C. Cordes, passed away on October 24, 2000. They were married on August 9, 1942 in Springfield Gardens, New York.



She is survived by her children, William (Mary) Cordes of Hackensack, New Jersey, Sr. Rosemary Cordes of Naples, Florida, John Cordes of Red Hook, Steven (Lorilee) Cordes of Huntington Station, Carol (John) Rumsey of Fredonia, Chris (Mary) Cordes of Malone, Mark (Cheryl) Cordes of Alabama, New York, Therese Pickup of Eldred, Pennsylvania and Florence (Frederick) Roberts of Dover, New Hampshire; her brother, Augustine Graban of Oakland, California; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews.



She is the grandmother of the late Katie Cordes and sister of the late John Graban.



Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Cecilia's Site, 56 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Oakfield.
