Shortsville - Ruth A. Dawson, 74, of Shortsville, an employee at Wal-Mart in Canandaigua, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at F.F. Thompson Hospital, in Canandaigua.
Mrs. Dawson was born January 7, 1942 in Herndon, PA, a daughter of the late Elwood and Helen (Kahler) Wiest.
She served in the US Navy and retired from the VA Medical Centers in Batavia and Buffalo.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Tonya Lynn Pratt of Geneva, Tammy Lee Dawson of Shortsville and Tina Louise Dawson of Batavia; 2 brothers, James (Madeline) Wiest of Cameron, PA, Robert Wiest of Sunbury, PA; a sister, Deborah (Patrick) McClain of Selinsgrove, PA; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Dawn Christine Pehrson and sister of the late Shirley Miller.
Services will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Lung Association of Western New York, 1595 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14620 or to Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester, 99 Victor Rd, Fairport, NY 14450.
