Obituary of Seymour Steinberg




Batavia - Seymour Steinberg, 90, of Batavia, longtime owner of Brenner's Jewelry in Batavia, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019, at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.



He was born April 14, 1928, in Brooklyn, a son of the late David and the late Anna (Halbrecht) Steinberg.



A member of Temple Emanu-El and B'Nai B'rith, he was also a member of the Lions Club of Batavia. He moved from Brooklyn when the Horowitz Shirt Factory moved to Batavia. A well-liked, well-respected businessman, he loved his family and his grandchildren. Mr. Steinberg proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army.



He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hella Fredrich Steinberg; his children, Dr. Mark (Joan) Steinberg of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Shari (Steve) Fauer of Manlius; five grandchildren, Andrew, Elizabeth and Daniel Steinberg,  Allie Fauer and Erin (Kevin) Williamson; his twin brother, Leo (Marion) Steinberg of East Amherst; and several nieces and nephews including Dr. Paul (Suzanne) Schulman of San Diego California.



He is predeceased by his sisters,  Beatrice Schulman and Helen Plaskin.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, Batavia where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. He will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia.
