Oakfield - Shirley A. Cox, 74, of Oakfield, passed away Friday, (January 10, 2014) at the United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia, following a lengthy illness.



Mrs. Cox was born September 5, 1939 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Jerry and Irene (Colantonio) Tresco.



Shirley was a member of the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witness in Batavia. She was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed baking and spending time with her family. Mrs. Cox was well known for her beautiful flower gardens and for her love of the QVC Network. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.



She was the wife of the late Garry F. Cox, Sr. who passed away on September 5, 2009.



Shirley is survived by her sons, Garry Cox, Jr. of Akron, Timothy (Nancy) Cox of NC, and Michael (Donna) Cox of Basom; daughters, Rebecca (Robert) Chatt of Oakfield, and Sherri (fiancé Richard Stromski) Cox of Batavia; a brother, David Tresco of Batavia; sisters, Virginia Tresco of Corfu, Geraldine (late Frank) Penkscyk of NC, and Jeanette Cox of Batavia. 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.



There will be no prior visitation. A memorial talk will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, (January 18, 2014) at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witness, 3601 West Main Street Road, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cox Family. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia.
