Amherst/Alabama - Valma Adeline Howard, 89, of Amherst, formerly of Alabama died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, in Williamsville.
Mrs. Howard was born May 31, 1926 in Hume, NY, a daughter of the late John and Amanda (Wood) Fisher.
She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Medina and she enjoyed bowling.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Marvin Coe Falkner who died on April 8, 1974 and her second husband, Harold LaVerne Howard, Sr., who died in April 14, 2011.
Survivors include a son, Edward (Darlene) Falkner of Lewiston; three step-children, Elizabeth Parkman of Whitehall, Harold L. (Sherry) Howard, Jr. of FL and James (Joy) Howard of Basom; 2 brothers, James Fisher of Lewiston, and Alfred (Edith) Fisher of South Warsaw; 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Laurie Falkner, Dianna Falkner, Teresa Falkner and Elizabeth Falkner and sister of the late Almond Fisher, Jerry Fisher, Charles Fisher, John Fisher, Donald Fisher and Martha Dutton.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Ave., Oakfield, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alabama Fire Department, P.O. Box 798, Basom, NY 14013. Burial will be in Alabama Cemetery.
