Batavia - William G. Wescott, Jr., 82 of Batavia, passed away on Monday, (May 23, 2022) at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Batavia.
Mr. Wescott was born July 15, 1939 in Batavia, a son of the late William G. Wescott Sr. and Pauline (Cooper) Wescott.
William was a parishioner of Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Church. He was a member of Mighty St. Joe's Drum & Bugle Corps and the Bills Mafia. He was also an avid Yankees fan.
Mr. Wescott was a teacher for 38 years at Kendall Central School where he taught 6th grade math and social studies. He was a coach for the Oakfield T-Ball, Little League, and Senior League baseball teams. William enjoyed vacationing in Daytona Beach, Florida and loved his dog, Rex. Above all though, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who he adored.
William is the husband of Joan (Woodstock) Wescott of Batavia; father of Kathy (Thomas) Wommack, Tim Wescott, and Sue Lewandowski all of Batavia; grandfather of Hannah Wommack, Rachel (Nick) Yackeren, Brenden Wescott, Olivia Wescott, Jonah Luplow, and Jillian Luplow; great-grandfather of Paisely Yackeren; brother-in-law of Elizabeth Wescott of Virginia.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Donald Wescott; and a sister, Mary Kay (late John) Rock.
Family and friends are invited to share in William's Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street in Batavia. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads House, PO Box 403, Batavia, New York 14021, or St. Joseph's School, 2 Summit Street, Batavia, New York 14020, or Volunteers for Animals, PO Box 1621, Batavia, New York 14021.
